Mark C. Nelis, Esq.
Founder and Partner
Mark Nelis has been a licensed Virginia attorney since 1989. Mark founded Mark Nelis P.C., now t/a Nelis Law in 1996.
Mark has a bachelor's of City Planning from the University of Virginia, School of Architecture. Mark served as Zoning Administrator of the Town of Leesburg and contributed to the drafting of an award-winning comprehensive plan. While attending night law school at George Washington University, Mark was responsible for the approval of multiple special exception applications related to the Stoneleigh Subdivision and Golf Course. Mark continued to serve as project manager for the construction of Stoneleigh Subdivision and Golf Course.
Mark has broad experience in government service, land development, and legal services. He has participated in the approval of hundreds of subdivisions, multiple special exceptions and rezoning applications. Significant cases include Gas Mart Corp. v. Loudoun County Bd. of Supervisors and The Stoneleigh Group, Inc. v. Town of Round Hill.
Mark is admitted in the Virginia Courts, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mark enjoys managing his twenty acre forest and lives in Bluemont, Virginia with his wife and has three children.
